Dear God,
As You hold the hearts of our dearly departed soldiers in Your hand,
Those of us left here on earth promise to do all that we possibly can
To help her child, his mother, her brothers, and their wives…
As Americans we pledge this to You, because they gave their lives.
Hold their hearts gently, Lord, in the palm of Your great hand
As we keep their memories rightly and struggle to somehow understand.
We treasure their lives and their sacrifice by remembering them today
And hope that we can honor them by how we live and what we say.
Until we see them face to face on that distant, bright and sunny shore
Tell them how much we love them and we honor what they gave their lives for.
We would not be who we are today without their sacrifice;
Our Great American Soldiers who paid the ultimate price.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, who bravely died for the whole earth,
So that we could win the war over death and live forever through His new birth.
